PARITOSH SEN


PARITOSH SEN: Ocotober 18, 1918 - October 22, 2008 He was a founder member of calcutta group, an art movement established in 1942 that did much to introduce Modernism into Indian art. After finishing school, he joined Madras art school and then tought at Daly college, Indore.In 1949, Sen left for Europe. In Paris, he studied at Andre Lhote school, academic Grand Chaunier, Ecole des Beaux- Arts and Ecole des Louvre where he studied the history of painting. Paritosh Sen was amongst the very few Indian artists to have had the opportunity to meet modern masters like Pablo Picasso and Bransuci. All this experiences have left a lasting influence on Paritosh Sen. The artist, a figurative painter, used bold lines against a two dimentional picture plane to express his views on contemporary art.. Sen has been exhibited widely both in India and abroad and his works have been collected by art connoisseurs across the Globe... He lived and worked in Kolkata, India.....
