Pratick Mallick

Pratick Mallick is a Kolkata-based visual artist and educator, trained in Painting from the Government College of Art & Craft (BVA, 2011). His practice centers on figurative studies, watercolor, and charcoal, exploring introspection, mythology, and the human condition. He has exhibited widely at leading venues including the Academy of Fine Arts, Birla Academy of Art & Culture, National Gallery of Modern Art, and Jahangir Art Gallery. His solo exhibitions include presentations at the Academy of Fine Arts (2020) and T-93 Art Gallery (2022). He has focused primarily on drawing since his days in art college. He works extensively with dry media such as charcoal, conté, and pastels on various papers, while also experimenting with inks and acrylics to enrich his practice. Early in his career, he developed a passion for live portraiture and drawing horses, captivated by their energy and movement—expressions that reflect the essence of space and time. While traditional perspectives often frame art as serving society or existing for its own sake, he believes that art fundamentally exists for the sake of nature—a concept that embraces not only the physical world but also human emotions and daily life. His work captures the intricate forms and rhythms of the natural world, expressing an ongoing harmony. His art is a continuous flow of consciousness, a timeless search for the intangible melody that connects all existence.
