| Krishen Khanna
Krishen Khanna (born 1925) is a renowned Indian modernist and a former member of the Progressive Artists' Group. A largely self-taught artist, he began his career as a banker before dedicating himself fully to art in 1961.
Khanna’s work is characterized by a humanist lens, focusing on the marginalized and the everyday experiences of Indian life. His style evolved from figurative realism to poetic abstraction, eventually returning to figurative works rooted in social reality. He often uses bold, thick brushstrokes and expressive lines to convey deep human emotion.
